This year, following the success of Mellor Open Gardens 2000, 16 beautiful gardens in Mellor will be open to the public on Sunday May 23rd from 11am until 6pm. Mellor is a rural village in Stockport, Cheshire, beside Marple, but set in the hills close to the Derbyshire border and enjoying fine views in all directions.

As the day draws nearer, keen gardeners will be wanting to plan their visit to Mellor Open Gardens by studying the map in the programme, or the copy above (note that you will need a programme to gain entry to the gardens). You are strongly recommended to buy your programme in advance and also to take advantage of the free bus service. This will run up and down Longhurst Lane between Marple Bridge village and the recreation ground near The Devonshire Arms, on a 'hail-and-ride' basis, thus enabling you to leave your car in one of the four car parks close to Brabyns Brow (A626). Those determined to drive into Mellor will find an extra field available for parking beside the main church car park above the Parish Centre on Church Road. Whatever you choose to do, please come prepared for plenty of walking! Both Mellor Primary School and Mellor Parish Centre will be open for refreshments and various extra entertainments (see programme).
