Introduction

The draft Strategy Document

The questionnaire

Dear Marple Residents,

This is a questionnaire about the Marple area (The Marple area includes North & South Marple wards). I am one of the Community Strategy Development Officers working in the Marple Area.

In September last year we held a forum in your area, firstly to find out what people valued about their area. It was apparent at this forum that the Marple Area is considered a friendly place to live with a good range of voluntary and community groups. Marple has a lot of assets which local people appreciate, for example high educational standards, good leisure facilities and shops. Marple is also valued for its nature and wildlife, countryside, canals and parks.

We also asked people what could be done to improve their area and what changes they would like to see. The issues raised were then put in order of priority - high, medium and low. The results of the consultation have been used as the basis for the draft Area Dimension document.

Since the forum we have been working on the priorities and we now have a second set of draft priorities for the area. We have put the top priorities in to a questionnaire in order to consult with the wider community, to ensure that the priorities we have, are the priorities for the majority of residents.

As a resident in the Marple Area we would appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill in the questionnaire.

The community strategy is about involving local people in the decisions made about their area, the draft area dimension document for Marple will eventually become a plan for the whole of the Marple Area. The plan will influence where and how money is spent in your area, so it is important you have your say.
