Congratulations to the Mellor Archaeological Trust. You heard it here first! We have just received the following message from John Hearle:
We have just heard that the Mellor Archaeological Trust has been awarded a grant of £455,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the Mellor Heritage Project (which includes Ludworth/Marple Bridge). The total cost of the project is £723,300, which includes cash contributions form the Trust and Stockport MBC, but mainly an enormous contribution from volunteer time. Actually I guess that the equivalently costed volunteer time will be considerably greater than the £240,000 that we cautiously included in the application.
Many thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support. We will be in touch shortly with those who will be actively involved in the project.
Best regards
John Hearle
