Saw a notice tonight on way home through seven stiles at the back of cricket club.
Council letter fastened to the lampost where the path crosses over the road(sorry cant remember the name of the road).
From what i could tell it was a notice of closure of the path between the seven stiles estate and the road which has been there forever!!
It might be temporary as I understand theres some work to do on the pipes down there but there were no dates on the letter so..
Not quite sure who to contact about it either
Does anyone know anything about it?

Did you get any further with this Lisa?

I'm not sure but when I looked at the map posted it looked like it was actually refering to a footpath that went through the backgarden of bungalows on Styles Avenue, not the well used public right of way to the Seven Styles Estate. I think that possibly there is an old right of way that has now been built over and they just want to legally close it down?

Thanks Ian. We have been trying for several years to get Stockport Council to recognise that it would be helpful, even beneficial for many people and local businesses if visitors to the Middlewood Way were directed through to Brabyns Park, Marple Bridge and Compstall. It would have been disastrous if the well used footpath were closed.

crikey
sorry
have been very busy and forgot all about this
emailed council as recommeded my Mark and they replied really quickly
it was an old right of way through someones garden and it had come up on a search when a property was sold.
At the time it was really really persisting it down so I didnt scrutinise the map as much as i might at other times ... thats my excuse for panicking
