Post by: Dave on January 13, 2012, 02:46:55 PM
Does anyone know of any Marple cafes or pubs which provide wi-fi for customers?

I understand that Toast does, although I have never used it.

You're right Mark - and to prove it, I'm there at the moment!  Excellent coffee too.  :P

Thanks for the tip.

Forget the wi-fi, just enjoy the food. Such distractions are bad for the digestion.

Some yummy cakes and puddings on the board this week and the warm smoked duck salad is delish. (That loud clunking noise was Henri falling off the diet wagon - sigh!)

These days a pub/cafe could make a good selling point of having no wifi and poor mobile phone reception.  I'd go there for a quiet drink and uninterrupted conversation.

People in cafes who are on their wi-fi usually cause the least disturbance.

I meant the disturbance to the digestion of the people using the wi-fi.

There are quite a few pubs in Marple that have poor mobile reception. The Navvie for one is especially bad. I guess that it's down to the materials used in their construction.

We're talking about wifi  not mobile .

Speaking as an 'oldie' I think it would be rather nice if people went out to pubs and restaurants and forgot their mobiles, blackberries, laptops and smart phones (and I know I have probably forgotten a few!) and just enjoyed a quiet pint/meal.  I actually find it quite offensive if out with other people who can't switch off for just a few minutes.  Rant over - back to the cocoa and slippers!   ;)

Look Barbara, my laptop was playing up and I needed to try it out on another wi-fi.  That's all.  Sorry if that offends you.   ::)
