Hope Asda appeal .

In my opinion it was always a hidden agenda, this was not a vote for Chadwick St, it was a vote against Tesco. A well engineered strategy by the elected representatives who "retired" from the meeting at Marple so as not to vote on the matter.
If the Marple Councillors really want to make a contribution, they should take a reduction in the expenses and allowances they receive and put more reliance on there earned income from their other activities,
Encourage Stockport Council to accept the Governments recommendation and not increase our council tax. Even better still, with the exception of Sue Ingham and Andrew Bispham of whom I have the highest regard,
they should stand down.
Nemesis will come

Of course the council should freeze council tax, reality is they need to cut more waste and daft services.
I'm not sure we need so many councillors but i don't think they should use their own money to do council things.
I don't see where your hidden agenda was, they didn't want a supermarkt at the college site, nobody of any note did

I don't get why the council are so against Asda/HL scheme.
-
Because:
1. The area is zoned for housing, not retail, and
2. The fuss created by MIA scared our councillors into opposing it and getting the council to put Chadwick Street on the market in order to stop it.

Dave, that is the most accurate summary of the situation to the "why" question I have seen in the thousand years that this topic has been discussed here. You win an Internet.
