There are for sale signs on a strip of land behind the vicarage on Church Lane. It's marked as amenity land. Does anyone know what this means? These are the agents www.brownrural.com

Apropos of absolutely nothing my first experience of Girl Guide camping was on that land. "Glamping" it was NOT!
I'm not saying how long ago it was but the "conveniences" consisted of a trench dug in the ground surrounded by an open-topped canvas enclosure. The earth dug out of the trench was piled up at the side with a shovel to hand. One squatted over the trench and when one had "been" one had to use the shovel to put soil in the trench. When I told my dad about it he said they had had the same arrangements in the desert in WWII!
It nearly put me off Guide camp for good.
