A new article has been added to the main site featuring the Churches Together Appeal to restore Mellor Cross:
http://www.marple.website/community-projects/mellor-cross-appeal.html
The group will be going to Marple Area Committee next Wednesday to seek a contribution towards the £25,000 they need to raise to create a new galvanised steel cross that will be timber clad.
They are currently setting up an on-line donation scheme that will allow them to accept Gift-Aid and once that is available will let people know.

The group, who need to raise around £25,000 to complete the project, were awarded £1,000 from the Committee's Ward Flexibility Funding.
You can read more about the project to restore Mellor Cross in this article on the new website:

Has the full amount been raised for the reconstruction of Mellor Cross or are donations still needed?

A new cross has been installed recently. I'm waiting for some more info before updating the article on the main site but I believe they have all the funds they need. The cross installed is quite different to what they were originally planning to do, but much more like what they replaced - a straight-forward wooden one.
