Hi
Does anyone have any suggested links to the Home Guard unit which used to be based at Marple Station in WW2? It was not part of the Cheshire Regiment Home Guard battalions as I have checked the membership rolls at County Archives in Chester. I believe it may have been a railway company unit.
All ideas welcome.

Hi @Water Rat
Do these items in Marple Local History Society Archives shed any light on your query:

Alas no ... my grandfather was Quartermaster Lieutenant of the unit and my Great Uncle was one of the Sergeants. I have seen photographs of members of the unit with others at a celebration dinner - probably in a photograph my mother sent to Bill Beard for his Romiley book. I will try and locate it and post it. They met/mustered every Sunday at Marple station - my grandfather worked at Hayfield station at the time.
