The agenda for the Marple Area Committee Meeting on Wednesday 4 December has been published.

The meeting starts at 6pm in Marple Senior Citizens' Hall and members of the public may attend.

The press and public are also able to follow the proceedings by watching the live webcast of the meeting.

Marple Bridge Winter Wonderland 1pm - 5pm Saturday 7 December 2024

Get set for a busy weekend at Marple Bridge, with the Winter Wonderland from 1pm to 5pm.

St. Martin's Church are also holding their Christmas Tree Festival and Craft Fair on the Saturday from 11am to 5pm.

And Marple Bridge United Reformed Church, at the foot of Hollins Lane, will be open from 1-4pm for tea, coffee and mince pies. There will also be a table of children's activities - everyone welcome!

As well as the Christmas Market at the Thumb from 11am - 4pm, the Spring Gardens has a Meet Santa on Sunday.

It's nearly time for the Christmas Lights Switch On with Marple Fest!

The event runs from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 30 November in Marple Precinct (more details in video in previous post).

The Lantern Parade starts at 5.15pm in Marple Memorial Park and finishes at 5.45pm in time for the lights switch-on by special guest Kay Crewdson.

Stockport Hydro's Environmental Challenge 2025



Stockport Hydro Ltd, a community owned scheme, has been generating renewable energy power on the River Goyt since October 2012.

This year £10,000 is available from their Environmental Challenge Fund for projects that will benefit the local community and take place within the SMBC boundary.

Projects must have an environmental focus and can be of a community or co-operative nature.

Stockport Hydro and Chadkirk Chapel Open Afternoon

Visit your local Hydroelectric Power scheme, producing renewable energy on the River Goyt.

Your local volunteer-run Hydro Power scheme has been producing renewable energy on the River Goyt since 2012. Feeding power directly into the National Grid, it creates an income to maintain the scheme, pay a return to investors and contribute to our Environmental Challenge fund*  Our volunteers will reveal the quirks and complexities involved in such a fascinating venture.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please get in touch. **



Chadkirk Chapel is open too!

Nearby our friends at the historic Grade II listed Chadkirk Chapel and Country Park are also open for the afternoon. Refreshments will be available, cash only.

Festive Fair at Marple United Reformed Church: Saturday 23 November 10am to 1.30pm

Showcasing the talents of local people. Stalls to include handmade jewellery, ceramics by Kala, charity cards, local honey, embroidery crafts, mosaics, upcycling, wooden crafts, bric a brac and tombola. Tea, coffee, and delicious home-made cakes also available.

A local event raising money for charity by Marple and Goyt Valley Inner Wheel.

Held at Marple United Reformed Church, Hibbert Lane, Marple, SK6 7NN
