Nice places to eat in Manchester city centre.

I know which italian you mean, but don't know the name. I have been once, it was good, but your standard Italian fare, nothing really special. as I remember, the service was good and it seemed to be a favourite of the people I went with.

Someone also recommended restaurant bar & grill on John Dalton St to me the other day. They are on the web and the menu looks scrummy (anywhere that sells 'fat chips' is OK by me!'>

Demitri's, a little Greek restaurant on just off Deansgate in the Castelfield area, is one of my family favourites. There's a covered outside seating area which is suitable for most weathers plus a drinking and/or snack area if you don't want a full meal.

Will second the remark on San Carlo which is next to Daisy and Tom round the side of Kendals - lovely Italian food and attentive waiters.

Ooh where do i start (I work there! )
Stock is a lovely Italian (not far from Boots) and if you are going in during the day they often have special offers at lunchtime. Simple is also lovely, but gets very busy in the evening. I have not been yet, but San Carlo is another italian that is supposed to great.
Both Zinc bar and Pizza express in the Triangle are good, and about a year ago i went to Selfridges for lunch and it was great and not too pricey (although its been rebranded to the Moet bar since so might have gone up in price). the olive press is part of the heathcotes chain and was great when we went the other week
Oh and again not tried them but two in the Northern Quarter get good reviews - Market Cafe and TNQ (next to each other not far from Shudehill bus station.
