Masked men threatened a pub landlord with a gun during a robbery at a pub in Stockport.

Detectives are appealing for any information about the attack, which happened at the Red Lion Hotel on Buxton Road, High Lane, at shortly before 11pm on Sunday 14 December 2008.

Three men got into the pub cellar after it had closed for the night and when the landlord was locking up.

The robbers threatened their victim with a gun and demanded money.

They tied up the man and took a substantial quantity of cash before fleeing.

The landlord managed to free himself and call police.

The only descriptions of the offenders is that one was white, in his early 20s and had tattoos on his right wrists. Another was also white, of stocky build and taller than 6ft. All were wearing gloves and masks.

Detective Inspector Kevin Dolan, of Stockport CID, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the landlord.

"It is fortunate he was not injured, but I'm sure the moment he found himself staring down the barrel of a gun will stay with him for a very long time.

"The men who carried out this raid are dangerous and need to be caught.

"I would appeal to anyone who has information about who is responsible, or who may have witnessed these men going into or fleeing the pub, to come forward."

Anyone with any information should call police on 0161 856 9840 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
