my credit card details were stolen at christmas... the person(s)  changed my address over the telephone with my bank to Ilford and reported my card as lost so they could get hold of a new card. Luckily I tried to use my card and when it was declined I telephoned the credit card company straight away to find out what the problem was... it was then that I was told my card was reported as lost and a new one had been sent to my address in Ilford. I said I have my card in my hand and I live in Stockport always have.  My account has been put on hold now whilst the fraud department investigate. An inconvienience to me but luckily I found out before they got chance to go on a spending spree on my card!  I still don't know how they got my passwords and secret question but thay are clever... a warning to all to be extra careful

I received this report by email. it may have been reported before but if not here it is. I have condensed it from the original

You may receive a call purporting to be from your Credit Card supplier. They will know your name and address etc. and will say something like they are checking on a possible fraudulent purchase using your account. They will ramble on and eventually say they want to check if you still have your card and in order for you to prove it will ask for the numbers on the back. Do not give out these numbers. Put the phone down and, if you wish, report the event to your Credit Card supplier.
