Hi Ray,

Yes, know about that one but this chap has been in touch through Marple Local History Society and they seem to think it's a different one to Ancoats, although I don't think we can be absolutely sure at the moment.

Up Plucksbridge road over the canal to its junction with Hollinwood Lane  one of the cottages at the side of the canal belonged to Ancoats lads club. That is perhaps what he is looking for there is a photograph in the virtual tour.Ray

We have been told of a club called "Beswick Lads Club", which was started in North Manchester and they apparently offered members the chance to rest after a illness at a property in Strines, Marple. We have been contacted by someone whose father stayed there in the 30s/40s. Has anyone ever heard of this and even better, know which property it was?
