Just had a new door fitted by Perrenial Windows (2 weeks ago), although the guys who fitted the actual door, removed the original window and brickwork did a good job and were clean I would recommend anybody using this company to check very carefully what they are getting.

We had 2 surveys done by the owner Phil, one for the quote and then the final detailed one. On both occasions it was made very clear which way round we wanted the door to open (which side the hinges were to be on), when the day came to fit the door, it was not noticed until after we had a big hole in the house that the hinges were on the wrong side of the door. Even the fitter said that he would have had the hinges fitted how we wanted them. The office was phoned, the drawings the fitter had were checked but because nobody could get hold of Phil to check his surveys nobody could be blamed. We decided that because we had to have the door installed anyway (we had a big hole in the wall), and that it would be 3-4 weeks before they could come back again and fit another one and cause all the disruption again (somebody having to take another day off work etc) we decided to accept the wrong door.

Nobody from Perrenial Windows (not Phil or Dawn) has bothered to come round, telephone us to offer an apology or anything. I would not recommend this company to anybody. It also took 2 more visits to re-align the door so that it would close and lock properly and to finish off the seals outside.

As I said I would recommend the workman who did the actual job for any type of job but not this company. I have previously had work done by Force 8 (Hazel Grove) and other companies who leave this company standing when it comes to customer satisfaction. The only reason we went with Perrenial Windows was that they local, were recommended on this site and were £50 cheaper than Force 8 - big mistake! Obviously people who recommend them on this site have never had other work done by other companies if they can recommend Perrenial Windows.

My main gripe other than the door being wrong and nobody bothering to check this from the company before any work was started was that they have taken our money and said stuff us now. I think if Phil did come round to our house now I would have to restrain myself. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Oakland Conservatories. They will give you honest advice and a good price. And the build quality is excellent.

Cant be better than Perenial .

We've been pleased with Perenial Windows too, nothing as big as a conservatory but several windows and sliding patio doors. Avoid Safestyle UK - a friend recently had to call the police when Safestyle decided they were going to take the new windows out because he wouldn't pay them until they had proved that they had provided the correct glass!

Can anyone recommend a builder who could give advice and a quote for installing french windows, leading into a decent sized (10m x 4m?) conservatory, possibly "P" shaped, with a brick/stone built Thunder room off....

Many thanks,

RH.
