Marple in Action Web Site and iPetition now on-line

The SMBC ePetition received the 50 signatures it needs to be referred to committee / council meeting in less than 24 hours. That's got to be a record as it's the first ever SMBC ePetition! took far longer to get the petition approved by Democratic Services and on-line.

Marple in Action at last has the first ever Stockport Council ePetition on-line.

If 50 people sign it, it will be referred to the council / appropriate committees. Let's see if we can get a few more than 50!

You have to register and provide your name and address to be able to sign. It is not very user friendly but I have managed to get mine on there:

Does anyone remember how many signatures there was on the petition around 5pm saturday?I am 99% sure it said 901,but now it says 879.Could some of the duplicate signatures have been removed? or maybe I read it wrong.

yes, I've removed (hopefully) all the duplicate signatures - it's something I do every couple of days.

People should avoid signing it twice and ask other family and friends to sign it instead.

Flipping heck !  I hope your not suggesting I set one up, I don't even know how to cut and paste  .
But seriously MARPLE IN ACTION was formed by like minded people on this site so we wish to remain part of the MARPLE web site , even though I am censured quite a lot

I think what hes trying to get at is insted of MAR having a sub domain on the marple-uk address it have its own marple-in-action.org address. It might also make the site easier to find, not to mention index pages tend to jump higher up google search

Thank you for the explanation and also the offer of help. It's good to confirm that this is the first ePetition submitted to SMBC. I suspected that, and it's one of the reasons why I did it, but I'm very disappointed at how long it has taken them to (not) respond. Perhaps being the first it is understandable and the alternative wording you've provided will hopefully make it easier for them.

Sorry I should have made it clear that upon contacting SMBC I wasn't made aware of the wording to any submitted petition nor whom had submitted it. Rest assured Democratic Services at SMBC are professional.

Having seen and signed the i-Petition I called to request a copy of the Councils petition scheme with a view to advising the forum on the available option to petition the Council.  I was aware that SMBC implimented the e-Petitions software in May and that this was there first petition request.  As a Committee Services Officer with responsibililty for e-Petitions and having implimented this software  a year ago I am fully aware that the wording of petition requests do not often meet the specific requirements of the Councils petition scheme.  Through being a member of various Committee Services forum's I know it is a issue across the country and one which Authorities are working to address.  At RMBC we always try and suggest alternative wording and work with whoever submitted the petition to meet the guidlines. 

Upon contacting SMBC I was made aware this was the case.  I had introduced myself first in my professional capacity and that I was calling as a resident of Marple in connection with the objection to development on the Hibbert Lane site.

At this point I checked the wording of the existing petitions and thought my previous post may help.

If I can be of any assistance or if there are any issues with the re-submitted petition please let me know.
