A few years ago a similar occasion in hour neighbourhood, we had several cases of theft in a broad daylight happening during the weekdays, when most of the neighbors were at work. We had to have a discussion with the local police officers to ask for a more frequent patrolling in that area, which they have kindly assisted us with.

Aswell as the guy at Rosehill (who normally stays static) there are at least 2 other scrap men who come round weekly with the daft music or 'any old iron' over the loudspeaker.

The regular guys dont get out of their vehicles usually unless somebody comes out to see them or if metal has been left on the end of a drive next to the footpath.

Yes there have been many burglaries of late around marple, most targeting high value bikes.

Houses are being marked during the day, ready for others to visit at night.

The GMP are patrolling at night in unmarked cars.

the speech marks on "scrap metal dealer" on my  original post would indicate he wasnt a  proper regulated dealer, merely a dishonest person on the look out for easy pickings.There were several burglaries inhawk gteen on Sunday night, all bikes rom sheds and garages. Bit of a  coincidence.

Probably the same bloke who last Sun evening robbed 3 properties in Hawk  Green taking bikes from garages. Have reported it to police.

Get in touch with the Police - if you call the switch board - new none emergency number '101'.  Ask them to pass a message to Stockport East for you - give them the reg. number etc... and they can be checked out for waste carrier licence etc etc etc... and also be informed they've been spotted etc....

just want to bring  to everyone's attention, the "scrap metal collector" was this morning eyeing up 3 bikes which were stored inside my garage and not put  out for his collection!!I had popped into the garage and left the door open for 2 minutes.  When challenged as to what he was doing he stated he thought we wanted them taking! He was told to clear off, but if I hadnt spotted him Im sure those bikes would be longgone.
