... no-one in their right mind will take any of it seriously.
Unless you happen to live on any of the streets around the Hibbert Lane site, in which case you will know it's all true.
No, wherever you live you cannot 'know' that any of it is true. It is all pure speculation, and much of it is such hopelessly poor speculation that it's an insult to anyone's intelligence.
Let's take the leaflet's claims one by one:
1. A 'massive increase' in traffic? Most of the traffic to Asda is already on the roads, heading for other shops and supermarkets. Asda will not magically create new shoppers. Obviously there will be more traffic in and around Hibbert Lane, but this will be offset by less traffic elsewhere.
2. 'Say goodbye to letting your children play out on the streets'. This is so ridiculous! No-one in their right mind lets their children play out in the middle of Hibbert Lane! And Asda is very unlikely to make any difference to those quiet side roads where children can play safely.
3. 'Research has shown nearby property prices falling by an average of 20%'. Not any research that I have seen. This document shows property prices falling slightly in the period before a new supermarket is built, but subsequently rising to near or above their previous levels once the supermarket is open.
