Children from Ludworth Primary School in Marple Bridge have taken to the waters of Romiley Marina Pool to raise money for much-needed equipment at their own school.
By swimming as far as they could manage in an hour, 99 pupils managed to raise more than £1,700 on Saturday 9 March.
The prize for raising the most money was, well, priceless: being allowed to push head teacher Roary Pownall into the deep end.
“I put my best suit on hoping to gain some sympathy and avoid the dunk, but to no avail,” said a dripping wet Mr Pownall after the event.
The lucky head teacher pushers were Jack Rowland, Ben Spreckley, Leia Atkinson, Kathryn Bennett and Charlotte Spreckley.
“This sponsored swim really is a great chance for the children to raise money for their school by showing off their swimming skills," said Roary Pownall.
Ludworth Primary School, which was judged by Ofsted in February to be outstanding in every area, has now run the sponsored swim event for more than a decade.
