I have also done the same. Let's see what they come up with.
They answered pretty sharpish to the message I sent about a tree on the verge outside my house which is getting in the way of the telephone wires. They said they'd sent someone round to check and they agreed that it needed trimming and it would be dealt with. That was within 3 working days of my message. However, as the tree was in blossom then I expect they have to wait for the right time of years to prune.

Thanks 'sgk', I have submitted my comments to the LA.  Would be better leaving them and distributing wild flower seed if they aren't going to do them properly!!

Does anybody know which department within SMBC is responsible for the cutting of the grass verges (those which run between the road and pavement)??

I have to say that the recent job done by the authority on Dale Road/Walton Drive is terrible.  I appreciate that the local authority are cutting back and have very limited budgets.  However, I have to say that if you are going to do a job then it should be done well.

You'll be wanting this page on the council website

Make Enquiries and Report Problems with Verges and Trees

  • Overgrown Tree on Verge
  • Verge Grass needs Cutting
  • Damaged Tree on Verge
  • Damaged Grass Verge
  • General Tree Enquiries
  • General Verge Enquiry
  • Other

I was just thinking the same thing. They have done an appalling job in my area too. It looks as if they have done it with a wobbly chainsaw.
