British Red Cross Appeal for help from Marple Gardeners!
« Reply #1 on: December 02, 2016, 04:15:17 PM »
The British Red Cross is appealing for Marple gardeners to help raise funds for the British Red Cross by taking part in their annual Open Gardens Scheme.

The 2016 programme was a huge success and the money raised has allowed them to continue to provide the vital services which help and support vulnerable people in crisis. The British Red Cross is part of a global network of volunteers, responding to natural disasters, conflicts and individual emergencies. They enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. When the crisis is over, they help people to recover and move on with their lives.

The Red Cross believe that gardens in Marple offer inspiration to new and accomplished gardeners and visitors and they are keen to add Marple gardens to their Red Cross open garden list for 2017. By opening your garden, on a day that suits you in Spring/Summer 2017, you will help raise much needed funds for the British Red Cross – nothing could be more rewarding and more gratefully received. You’ll get to show off your garden and meet like-minded gardeners at the same time!

This garden event is also a brilliant opportunity to bring your friends, family and your local community together as well as helping to raise the essential funds needed to support the local services run by the British Red Cross. They would ask that all proceeds would be made directly to the British Red Cross to help support the local services which they run across Cheshire.

The British Red Cross offers help to people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. They respond to emergencies all over the world and offers aid and support to communities affected by natural disasters. Here in the UK, the Red Cross provides a variety of health and social care services. They help people cope at home after a hospital stay and loan wheelchairs, free of charge, to both adults and children to help make a difficult situation into something more positive.

If you are interested in hosting your own garden event, please contact Jen at jkent@redcross.org.uk or Kerry at kthreadgill@redcross.org.uk to request a registration form. The registration form must be completed and sent back to the British Red Cross by Monday 9th January 2017 (deadline may be extended) in order to register for this event.
