Marple's contributions to the IWM Mapping the Centenary Project
Earlier this year The Marple Website was invited to submit the story of the WWI Timeline in Marple Memorial Park to the Imperial War Museum's "Mapping the Centenary" Project. This is an on-line record of projects, activities and events that marked the First World War Centenary from 2014 - 2019.
While submitting the timeline story it was clear that several other local projects and activities merited inclusion in the scheme, not least the fantastic contribution made by the Marple Poppy Appeal Team since 2017 with their named Street Poppies and their "Who Was I?" Campaign.
Submissions closed in March this year and it is great to report that all projects submitted by the Marple Website have been accepted and are now live on the Mapping the Centenary web site.
