Got a call from one of our neighbours who has a baby Tawny Owl on her fence. Beautiful but wouldn't open its eye once!

It's perfectly natural for part-grown Tawny Owls to be out of the nest before they can fly. Adults will feed their young wherever they are, even on the ground.

So we've beaten a retreat and hopefully mama will come.

Everyone will be pleased to know that later in the evening the young owl strolled along the fence and then fluttered into a nearby oak to join mum and dad :)
