One that will fascinate the local history anoraks amongst you!

A plan dated 2nd August 1962 has recently come into the possession of Marple Local History Society with numbered arrows identify the locations and directions of 25 photographs taken of Market Street, Stockport Road, Derby Way and Church Lane at that time. Some detective work has revealed that all 25 of these photos are already on the Virtual History Tour but it wasn't realised that they were actually a set of photos taken at the same time specifically to document how the Town Centre looked in 1961/62.

The titles and descriptions of the 25 photos on the Virtual Tour have now been amended to include the reference numbers from the plan and tagged with the term "Shopping Area Improvements".

This means that they can now all be found by using that term in the search facility here: https://visitmarple.co.uk/photos/search.php

In addition to the plan showing the photo locations there is also one dated 7 June 1961 that identifies the names of every shop and business in the town centre at that particular point in time, which may be of interest to some people too. This can be seen below. Right-click and "view Image" for a nice big version.
