Marple Coop / Texaco Garage to become ASDA

Possible but am not holding out much hope.  There's usually a difference in price between a petrol station at a supermarket, and a petrol station with a supermarket convenience store attached even when the store is owned by someone like Sainsbury's or Tesco.  And it will no doubt also depend on the contract with Texaco who may well ultimately own the station itself.

This store has been through several different owners of large supermarket chains for the last 30 years or so. The one thing that has been consistent throughout is that the petrol station has remained as Texaco and operated by whoever runs the shop.

Actually this could be good news - Asda petrol stations elsewhere tend to be among the cheapest so maybe we’ll get lower fuel prices in Marple. 😎

Asda have bought the petrol stations and the shops attached to them from the Co-op Group.

Marple Coop / Texaco Garage to become ASDA

ASDA is to acquire the Coop / Texaco Garage as part of a much larger deal with the Coop, so we will be back to just the one Coop in Marple.
