Countdown to Marple Carnival 2023!

It's time to start counting down to the big day and local businesses are getting their shop windows ready to go AROUND THE WORLD with Marple Carnival on Saturday 17 June 2023!

Please be advised that Stockport MBC has approved the phased closure of the following roads on 17th June 2023 for Marple Carnival's Annual Parade:

Oldknow Road (11.00 hrs  -14.30 hrs); Strines Road; Stockport Road; Hibbert Lane; Church Lane;  Buxton Lane;  Cross Lane and Station Road.

Minor roads adjoining these will also be subject to temporary phased closures.

Diversions will be in place to allow traffic to proceed along Arkwright Road and Strines Road when Oldknow is closed to vehicular traffic.

Stewards will be positioned along the route to direct traffic and to assist emergency services if required.

Marple Carnival is back in 2023 on Saturday 17 June!

NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURES

Please be advised that Marple Carnival Committee has requested the closure of the following roads on 17th June 2023 from 13.00 hrs to 15.00 hrs for the annual Marple Carnival Parade:Oldknow Road - No through traffic from 11.30 - 15.00,

From 13.00 to 15.00 phased timings:

Strines Road,
Hollins Lane,
Hibbert Lane,
Union Street,
Church Lane,
Buxton Lane,
Cross Lane,
Station Road
Stockport Road
and Oldknow Road.

ALL ROAD CLOSURES WILL BE ON A PHASED/ROLLING ROAD BASIS.

Marshals will be on duty to assist with the closure of side roads joining the main parade route and to assist emergency vehicles..

Please be patient and await the "ALL CLEAR" instruction before proceeding.

BE AWARE TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ARE  IN PLACE  ON THE DAY.
