It depends on whether your surgery has gone private.

My sons surgery has gone private, he is 12 years old, and I have paid 55 pounds for him to have four teeth removed so that he can have orthadontic treatment.

I now have to pay £ 4 per month into a scheme so that he will have 2 check ups per year etc.

The orthadontic treatment is at stepping hill, so thank goodness no charges for that, but it will probably only be a matter of time '>

I have been living in ignorance! I was told today that children do not receive free dental treatment. I  was under the impression obviously wrongly that children under 16 got free treatment ( from the proceeds of parents NHS contributions)

Is it any wonder if the nations dental health is declining because of the prohibitive cost of visiting the dentist. The dentist say they cant afford to treat on NHS, well just look at their fancy cars when they go home.

I never met a poor dentist working prior to all this business about doing only private.

Who trained them...was it the NHS?.....something needs to be done
