my 12 year old has told me in passing that its been cleared and is patrolled now on a regular basis...

it was generally used for smoking and supposedly ( 2nd hand from a 12yr old boy is often completely wrong! ) the school isnt allowing kids to smoke when in school uniform inside(! ) or outside school premises

but isnt the vandalism on a different scale now?   is it not getting worst all the time

when it comes down to it its a lack of respect across he board..  regardless of how good or bad kids were in the past the mjority had a certain amount of respect for those in charge and a certain amount of fear of consequences...  that seems to be completely absent.

it used to be absent in some of the bad kids but now its absent in alot or maybe even most of the kids of a certain age now  '>

I went to Marple Hall and the passage way was used then the vandals were about then and will be about in years too come.

i rearly didnt mean that vandalism was  right  what i  ment was like eeyore21 said that kids in allys has been going on for ever,

Yes, you should complain to local councillors and encourage others to do the same. The more people complain the more likely an effort will be made to resolve it. As well as email or letter people could also speak directly to a councillor at the surgery on Saturday mornings in the library.

Would emailing the councillers several times bring this to the attention of someone who could help? What action do we need to take? I must say this passageway is RIGHT on my doorstep and has irriatated me for years. I used to dread walking down it at 8:30am when all the chavs were bunched together having drags on one fag or something daft!! Spitting at people for no apparent reason, but thats another moan for another day :-)

fair point dave but if youngsters behaved all the time  how would they learn about real life

kids down alley ways has been going on for as long as i can remember. my brother used to disappear from school he was brought up right.
i taught my son the rights and wrongs of school need to go and study get good grades and all that. then in year 9 i was given a pager to take to work and keep with me at all times because he was being taken to school and registaring then leaving untill it was time to come home. the school knew that  he was doing it and was very helpful and communitive.
my point is it isn't the teachers and it isn't always parents most times its just the kids.

Yes, the teachers are doing their jobs - teaching.  I don't know whose job it is to go round the back alleys of Marple supervising kids whose parents haven't taught them how to behave, but it  isn't a teacher's, that's for sure!  '>

i was allways under the impresion that the studants came under the responsabilty of the school the moment the left home  for school untill the  moment they returned if thats still the case are the teachers not doing their jobs

hmm i know one of the residents and yes it does
I'm told there has been various complaints to the school about it but supposedly they say its out of their hands... off their property etc.... the police cant do anything unless they catch them and the residents have been told not to do anything!!!

Gone are the days when Mr Saville ( my old head there and Im sure several remember him) used to walk the streets and catch those chavs... everyone "hated" (I didnt actually i thought he was a scream) him but he didnt take any of this sort of rubbish.. anyone with a MH uniform anywhere anytime  doing anything got shot or slippered or even just talked too which could be fairly scary too.

There were always bad lads but not quite so many and none would have dared so close to school

no idea why the school doesnt try and place some discipline on these kids... its clear that other schools do it so its not beyond their power...  its the one thing that puts me off the school

Instead they are going to smarten up the uniform ( almost back to the way it was 20 years ago) as if that will put the "chavs" off.

I noticed all the fence panells were missing or kicked in when I walked through there with my son on review day at Marple Hall.  You are right, it is a disgrace.

My son says its called  Scalley Alley at school and its where all the "Chavs"  ( as he calls them) go and smoke.

It would drive me mad if I was one of the residents, as its a lovely culdesac, spoilt by a minority.

I was told about 8months ago that the passage way at the end of Charles Avenue leading to Marple Hall School is being bought by one of the neighbours who is a counciller.... It is an absolute disgrace, EVERY single fence panel has been kicked in and graffitied...This isn't a nice sight for dog walkers and can't be nice for the home owners either side of the passage!!
