Good question !
Marple used to have an Information Centre up until four years ago, (plus a cash office), staffed by two ladies who new the area very well and offered assistance on many issues.
You will find that Marple is probably the only "township" in Stockport which does not have an information centre.
A deal was struck with CAB to get them to carry out some of the former Information Office duties.
Some of these "duties" are also performed by Library staff and information about Marple is held in the Library.
BUT, Marple should have a visitor centre, you are right, it's also about whether or not SMBC regard Marple as a visitor destination and whether they want to encourage visitors, let alone service the one's who manage a visit.
This website of course has gone a long way to make Marple and district have visitor appeal, we ourselves have talked to SMBC on numerous occasions to include Marple in SMBC's tourism strategy ! - one day perhaps.
Keep on visiting- As a visitor to the area, what did you think of Marple? Â
