I live opposite a bus shelter and can not remember the amount of times it has been shattered by pupils of Marple Hall School when they are waiting for the bus home. Working from home last Thursday I heard an almighty bang looked out of the window and saw a youth in school uniform doing Bruce Lee type kicks at the shelter his last kick resulted in the bus shelter side panel shattering. I Ran out of house whilst dialing 999 gave a description to the police asked the other children who the lad was and gave his name to the police who I was still on the phone to. As luck would have it a school teacher who was walking up to the bus stop was able to identify the youth as he ran passed her so confirmed his identity to the police control room. The lad ran off but at least we knew who he was, the school he went to and I was able to give a first hand account of his act of vandalism. The police visited me today and I gave a statement and have agreed if needed to give evidence so hopefully the youth will be charged with criminal damage. What the youth did to the bus shelter was madness but what was more worrying that day was the other younger children that were stood innocently at the bus stop having to cower together stood on the busy road to avoid being associated with this idiot. The outcome of this act of madness could have had a more serious ending if one of the younger children who looked like year one had have been knocked down by a passing car
