I think the Thorntons shops (including the Marple card shop) have a much better range, though, and the choice is much better. Great for presents and much of it is allergen free.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, is this a new thing that the coop stock thorntons? Thorntons are having problems nationally.
Morrisons in Hyde have stocked Thornton's for years as do other supermarket chains. Thornton's are also promoting their product heavily on the QVC shopping channel. Most if not all of Thornton's "own" shops are franchises.

Horrible sickly stuff but then I don't like any chocolate very much. When I lived in Belper in the 1970s the smell from the Thornton's factory hung over the town like the Marple sewage smell - yuck!

I always use that card shop, very friendly and some great little gifts in there aswell as good Thorntons range.

Dont buy your thorntons chocs from the coop buy from the card shop / it could close otherwise .come on all you no to a supermarket . back the small shops not the coop. ;)
