Hi, Amazon,

Thanks for the suggestion - hadn't thought of that, and sort of thought that the forum was just a different part of the same Marple website. (You can tell I'm a newbie, can't you?) I'll look for a suitable place on the main Marple website as this really is an excellent course and I''m sure there are lots of local walkers who may be interested.

If, like me, you love hill walking but are navigationally-challenged and find maps a bit terrifying, I'd highly recommend a new short course at the Marple Campus of Marple & Cheadle College. It's called Map-Reading for Hill Walkers, and the fee is very reasonable, much cheaper than other far shorter courses I've seen advertised.

It's a mixture of classroom-based theory sessions (currently Wed evenings, but that could change) followed by group walks on Sunday mornings to put into the practice the skills covered. The tutor, Robert Clapham, is a very experienced walker and the love of his subject shines through. Not only have I learned a huge amount in a relatively short space of time (hopefully enough to avoid calling Mountain Rescue unless I'm very unlucky!), but it's been the most enjoyable course I've ever done (and I've done a few). The course will be running again at roughly the same time (April/May) next year. As it's likely to be very popular again, it's probably best to sign up as soon as details become available.

If anyone wants more information, I'm happy for them to PM me.

Why not post details on Marple website that's what it's for information .although It does go astray sometimes but most of it is good banter ,
