Posted on behalf of Marple Cricket Club:Marple Cricket Club versus ECB Physical Disability Match Sunday 10th May Free Community EventOn Sunday 10th May, a Marple CC XI will be playing against the England and Wales Cricket Board National Physical Disability Side. The match will be a 40 over contest, starting at noon. This is a free event for our community.
The England team is made up from players across the country, who have overcome their own disabilities to continue and excel at playing cricket, and are now representing their country.
We are one of the warm up games for our visitors, before they play a series of games against the Bangladesh Physical Disability team in August.
http://www.ecb.co.uk/development/disability-cricket/On the day we will be raising some money via a raffle for The Bone Cancer Research Trust. Callum Flynn the ECB PD team’s opening batsman, has personally raised over £50,000 for the cause after contracting cancer as a 14 year old. Five years on, Callum is batting for Swinton Moorside in the ECB Premier Bolton League, following a full knee replacement. The charity also has some very close links to some of our own members.
An auction to raise money for the club, will be held during the tea interval, for a pair of tickets in the KUKRI box, for the England versus Australia one day international game on Sunday 13th September.
Please come down to watch if you can, to support both sets of players and also to show our visitors from the ECB and local cricket boards what a great place Marple is.
