I don't know if anyone else has raised this issue but I think it's very important to make a big "Thank you" to the "little people" in Marple who kept us going over the last 4 months.
In no particular order -
Neals (the greengrocers on Market Street)
White's (butchers - also on Market Street)
Littlewood's (butchers on Church Lane)
The Co-op staff at the Texaco station who put up valiantly with cross customers who couldn't find what they wanted
Hollins the hardware shop on Hollins Lane, who were there when (literally) things began to fall apart
The Fishmonger on Market Street (and the unknown fishermen who kept him stocked up)
Archers the bakers on Hollins Lane
The Health Shop on Stockport Road (who kept me in bread flour and other baking requirements)
The shop on Market Street that sells all sorts of hardware
And anyone I've missed - please forgive me.
And Mr Tomlinson, the newsagent on Buxton Lane, who kept my cat in "Whiskas" and cat litter for the duration.
Now things are getting back to normal don't forget them. "Use 'em or lose 'em" as the saying goes or the next time we have an emergency they might not be there.
