Friends of Marple Memorial Park Task Days on Hold

Friends of Marple Memorial Park's normal Task Days have been placed on hold for the immediate future, until it is safe to meet in groups again.

Sadly that means that we will not be able to hold any further "Little Growers" sessions planned for March and April either.

During the coming weeks we will be forced to spend less time in the park, so if you spot any issues that you think will concern us, please report it via the Friends of the Park web site.

Friends of Marple Memorial Park launched "Little Growers" with the first event for 2020 yesterday.

Better weather allowed us to set-up outside the library and engage with families using the play areas. We planted pots of seeds with 22 Little Growers, which was a great start to the season.
As part of our task day We also had a good tidy-up of the flowerbed in the Infants Play area and this is where we will be planting anything the Little Growers bring back this year.

There are 3 more dates for children to bring their adults to the park and plants some seeds to take home and nurture.

Friends of Marple Memorial Park are looking for "Little Growers" to come and plant seeds for their Park!

The previous two year's "Little Growers" were very popular so we're going to do it again.

Children can plant a seed in a pot, take it home, nurture it, and then re-plant it in the park in a location of your choice when it has grown large enough.

Friends of the Park will provide compost and a biodegradable pot for you to plant your seed and then take it home.

We will be in the Park on the following days between 10.30am to 12 noon to do this with you:

Saturday 14 March, Saturday 28 March, Saturday 11 April and Saturday 25 April 2020.

If the weather is OK we'll be near the War Memorial, if it's not we'll be in Marple Library.

You can come back and re-plant it on any of our Task Days later in the year on the last Saturday of each month between 10.30am to 12 noon.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult!
