Brass Bands of MARPLE: 100th Birthday Picnic in the Park:
Sunday 24 July 2022 between 2pm and 4pm

The Marple Band and Hawk Green Band will be helping the community celebrate the 100th anniversary of the dedication of Marple Memorial Park on Sunday 24 July between 2pm and 4pm.

The event will be similar to the very successful 2018 concert in the park, which was blessed with glorious weather as you can see in the poster image below.

We hope this event celebrating the park's centenary will have the benefit of the sunshine too but the Senior Citizens' Hall is booked just in case the British summer doesn't play ball.

New Musical Director for Marple Band

Marple Band is absolutely delighted to inform you that they have appointed Steve Sutton as their new MD following Steve Curtis' decision to stand down from conducting the band.

This is a very exciting time for the band, the beginning of a new chapter and they hope you will all be delighted with the news. 

The Marple Band Committee would like to thank Steve Curtis for all of his hard work with the band.

Marple Band engagements confirmed in 2022 so far:

• Sunday 24th April approx: Spring Concert 2-4pm. Marple Senior Citizens' Hall.
• Sun 8th May: Northumberland Arms. Afternoon concert. 3-5pm.
• Fri 3rd June: Compstall Cricket Club, Queen's Platinum Jubilee Event- afternoon times tbc.
• Fri 10th June: Whit Friday contest.
• Sun 26th June: Pavilion Gardens bandstand, Buxton 2-4pm.
• Sun 24th July: Concert in the Park: 2pm - 4pm.
• Fri 7 October: Last Night of Proms with Romiley and Marple Lions  8-10pm.
