Stockport Hydro's Environmental Challenge 2023

Stockport Hydro Ltd, a community owned scheme, has been generating renewable energy power on the River Goyt since October 2012.

This year £8,000 is available from their Environmental Challenge Fund for projects that will benefit the local community and take place within the SMBC boundary.

Projects must have an environmental focus and can be of a community or co-operative nature.

2022 was another successful year for Stockport Hydro Ltd as 16 local projects benefit from the 2022 Environmental Challenge Awards:

£7,600 donated to 16 community projects within Stockport

Stockport Hydro Ltd is delighted to announce that £7,600, raised through the sale of renewable energy and donations by members, has been donated to 16 diverse environmental and educational projects locally. Thankfully this year it was possible to hold an awards ceremony at the Hydro once again and the weather certainly played ball, enabling Arthur Procter to take some wonderful photos.

Marple was well represented by All Saints and Rose Hill schools, MESS and Friends of Marple Memorial Park.
