Marian Ellison (nee Watson)

I've been contacted by Sarah, a researcher for the BBC, who is working on on a genealogical documentary series for BBC1 and is trying to track down some info on a lady called Marian Ellison, who may have been the Marple Carnival Queen many years ago. She was born in 1913 and married in Dec 1939 so it was probably in between 1925 and 1940. There was not a regular carnival every year during that period but there may have been a few events.

Below is all the info that Sarah currently has. If anyone can add anything at all to this, especially about the Carnival Queen part, then please let us know here.

Marian Ellison (nee Watson)
known as Marie – had an older sister, Hilda Watson, who died in her 40s (1916 – 1962)

Born Stockport 9 Aug 1913 to Ann Davenport and William Frederick Watson (known as Willie), a plumber. Her parents were married in Stockport 1910 and had another child, a girl, Hilda Watson (b 27 Jul 1916 Stockport, d 28 Jul 1962 Wirral).

On 2 Dec 1939, she married Albert Richard Ellison – never had children. Albert was the son of Richard Philip Ellison - a soapworker in Leverhulme. Albert himself worked for Sunlight until he moved to Bachelors in Southall and then Kent. When Albert died on 18 Mar 1964 in Ashford Kent, Marian (known as Marie) returned to Leverhulme to live with her husband’s cousin.

Also possibly had cousins who lived there – a Roy Jeffries b 21 Sept 1920 of Emma Davenport and Sydney frank Jeffries.
