Am I imagining things or has this issue been raised before?

From memory the last time this was raised it turned out to be a bit of an urban myth.

where will the money go from the sale of land, that once belonged to the people of Marple.  Will it, like at lot of other economic development, go West of the A6, to that richly deserving area called Bramhall/Cheadle?

I've got nothing to do with Ridge Danyers (now known as Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College), but I can answer this bit of Victor's question: the land that 'once belonged to the people of Marple' was quietly given away, along with countless acres of land all over the country, on April Fools Day 1993, when the government privatised all the further education and sixth form colleges in the country.

My guess is that if the Hibbert Lane site is sold off the receipts would probably be used to finance improvements to the Buxton Lane buildings.

Don't know if anyone else has heard rumours concerning the Ridge Danyers site on Hibbert Lane but I have now heard this from 2 separate people.  It appears that the Ridge Danyers is going to close the Hibbert Lane site and move everything to their site on Buxton Lane.  Selling the land on Hibbert Lane for housing as one source has told me, or to Tesco who it seems have expressed an interest. This all to take place Summer 2007.

Now I don't want to appear a NIMBY but the two issues I have is what will happen to the sports facility that the Ridge Danyers site provides for the people of Marple and where will the money go from the sale of land, that once belonged to the people of Marple.  Will it, like at lot of other economic development, go West of the A6, to that richly deserving area called Bramhall/Cheadle?
