Lots of volunteers on holiday made for a quieter task day than usual yesterday but plenty of work on flowerbeds and benches was completed.

Read more about was done here: http://www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/task-days.html

The next scheduled Task Day is Saturday 15 July and we'd be delighted if you can come along for however long you can between 10 am and 2 pm.

Stout footwear and suitable clothing should be worn and bring your own gardening gloves and small hand tools if you have them. Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Last weekend's task day was the first we've ever missed (due to holidays) but very pleased to see our volunteers barely noticed and just cracked on with the good work!

There is also some details of work done during the week before, on 23 May.

Yesterday's task day rounded off a really busy week in the park, when we focused mostly on the Bee Friendly Project supported by grants from Stockport Hydro and Anchorpoint.

Yesterday was another busy day for Memorial Park volunteers and has ensured the park is looking it's best for Easter.

We were joined by volunteers from Marple Co-Op again, who are really getting involved in the community.

We did managed to squeeze an extra task day in before 2016 ended, on New Year's Eve, and had a great turnout despite several regular volunteers who are unwell not being able to make it.

As it was a special day we took our refreshments at Samuel Oldknow's instead of the mess room in the park. I for one could get used to this!

Friends of the Park planted 5,000 crocus bulbs, provided by the council to commemorate Stockport's fallen in all conflicts, in beautiful sunshine on our task day yesterday.
