Read about today's task day and the Beavers hedgerow planting on the Friends web site

We're having a break from Task Days for December, so the next one will be on Saturday 26th January 2008 between 10am and 2pm. As usual everyone is welcome to join in for as long as they wish during these times.

Photos from the Tree Planting Event yesterday have now been placed on the Friends of the Park web site, see this link.

The next Friends of the Park Task Day is on Saturday 24th November between 10am and 2pm. As usual everyone is welcome to join in for as long as they wish during these times, when we hope that the local Beavers will be planting hedgerows in the Breathing Places area (if the hedgepacks arrive from the Woodland Trust in time! )

Today's Task Day saw the successful planting up of Marple's new Lock 17 display, with the Friends of the Park being joined by Marple Locks Heritage Society and Churches Together.

The next Friends of the Park Task Day on Saturday 27th October is a special Tree Planting Event funded by the Woodland Trust and we will be planting 121 new trees in the park.

Everyone is welcome to join in and all children participating will receive a goodie bag in the post from the Woodland Trust. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Bring your own trowel or spade and wear appropriate clothing and boots or shoes. We will meet in the park at 10am.

At the next Friends of Marple Memorial Park Task Day we will join forces with Marple Locks Heritage Society to complete the planting up of the new Lock 17 display on Oldknow Gardens on the corner of Strines Road and Stockport Road (near to Lock 13).

The new steel replica lock gates have been installed today by Wayne Chaisty of Ironwood. Visit www.marple-uk.com/lock17 to see what a fine job wayne has done and to read more about the project.

The next Friends of Memorial Park Task Day is on Saturday 24th March between 10am and 2pm. Everyone is welcome to join in for as long as they wish during these times.

We hope to be returning the original rocks from the War Memorial when it was first built in 1922 to the flowerbeds surrounding it.

Quick reminder about the task day in Memorial Park tomorrow. So long as it doesn't get blown or rained off we should be preparing the Locks Flowerbed to be moved to Oldknow Gardens by clearing the area it is currently in and putting it in storage.

Hope to see you there, weather permitting!

Late notice I know, but the Friends of Marple Memorial Park would be delighted to welcome you to their latest task day in the park, when you can join in the preparation of bedding and planting.

Meet in the Park at 10.30 am Today.

If that is too short notice, the next Task Day will on Saturday 18th November, again at 10.30 am.
