Twelve new photos of the Iron Bridge project progress have been added to the Tour this morning. These include the scaffolding erection and details of some unfortunate damage done to the iron railings.

Apologies to those of you who enjoy the regular new additions to the Virtual Tour, unfortunately due to the Iron Bridge Restoration kicking off and all kinds of things going on with the Friends of the Park we've been rather stretched.

Speaking of the Iron Bridge, we have added a new album in the Brabyns Park section that will be used to record the progress of the restoration work. History in the making so to speak! Follow this link to go straight to the latest additions.

We hope to add more modern galleries to the Tour in the future, like Marple Carnival and other local events as well as adding more old photos too. It's just a matter of finding the time!

Last night a sequence of eleven photos of Strines Chimney coming down taken by Arthur Proctor were added to the Virtual Tour.

Because these are sequential, the best way to view them is to got to the first one in the "Other Events" Album and then use the slideshow feature by clicking the little clapperboard image to the left of where it says FILE 35/52.

Use this link to go directly to the first photo in the sequence.

This afternoon a series of photos taken by Brian Noble during the replacement of the water wheel at the Little Mill at Rowarth have been added to the Tour, along with a single picture of local man Mike Callan, who in 1967 competed with Arnold Shwarzenegger for the Mr Universe title! All provided to us by Ray Noble.

Last night six family photos of Betty Tunstall and other members of her family at Marple Hall were added to the Tour. Betty, who was the daughter of the caretaker, F. Tunstall, was born at the hall in 1923 and lived there until 1932. The photos were provided by Betty's own daughter, Betty Longmate, who says the family will see if they can find anymore - so keep your fingers crossed! Betty Snr. is now 83 years old.

Also added today is a plan view of Marple Hall, as requested by Denise some time ago, which may help you to work out where some of the Marple Hall photos were taken from.

Twelve images provided by Terry Wood have been added to the Virtual Tour this afternoon, including a couple of his grandfather, John Wood.

It's great to see that we'll soon have notched up 50,000 views of the pictures in the new format tour, which is good going since August!

If anyone out there has any new images, then please do get in touch but in the meantime we have more from Terry and from Ray Noble to add in the next week or so.

Twelve images provided by Derek Aldred comprise our first additions to the Tour for 2007, including a great photograph of Compstall School children in 1923. Just look at the expression on the lad sat next to the teacher - Mrs Hinchcliffe must have ruled with an iron rod! Thanks to Derek, whose mother and mother-in-law named almost everyone in the group photos for him when they were in their 90s.

Note: These new additions temporarily disappeared after our host moved us to a new server but they are back on-line now. Apologies for any confusion.

The final 12 images from the collection of glass slides have been added to the tour this morning, plus two enlargements of the Marple Defense Corps, so you can see the faces properly. If you can put names to any of these then please do let us know.

We still have a fair backlog of photos to add, so keep coming back for more! Those of you patiently awaiting the photos you've provided to appear, please bear with us.

Another 12 images from the collection of glass slides have been added to the tour this morning, especially for Christmas Day! Most of these ones feature Miss Fanny Hudson, her staff and casualties staying at Brabyns Hall during WW1, when it served as a Military Hospital.
