Some of you have enquired about not being able to access the Virtual Tour for the last few days. This is due to the domain being prematurely suspended before it expires. Unfortunately because our host registered this on our behalf in their own name we don't appear to be able to do much about it directly ourselves, which is most frustrating.

We are currently waiting for the host to link a new domain name to our package and hope to have things back to normal soon. Fingers crossed, we hope we're not going to loose all that hard work!

Three new photos have been added to the Virtual Tour this morning. One of Marple Wharf Junction, a great picture of Strines Ladies Hockey Club 1st Team (1922/23) and L.S. Lowry visiting the 1973 SMA Exhibition.

Three recently acquired postcards have been added to the tour this morning. Two, we think, depicting participants queuing to join an early Marple Carnival parade and one of a Music Festival held in the Ridge Quarry, probably 1909. Click here for the latest additions.........

Fifteen new pictures have been added to the Virtual Tour this afternoon. Ten of them are of Green Bank, a house that used to be sited on Hibbert Lane. The other five have been received as a result of feedback from the new Willows Walks feature and include several school shots, Marple Swimming Club and a great picture of the Carnival procession passing G.R. Yeates in the mid 50s.

It was at the Middlewood Way end of the station. There are a couple of photographs that locate it for you on our feature 'Railways of Marple & District', one from 1962 and the other from 1914, see below:

To the left of centre in this 1962 pic.

And in line with the base of the brickworks chimney in this 1914 one.

Hi Mark, on the Time Tour, where is that picture of the signal box at Rose Hill supposed to be located? Was it on the existing line or on what used to be the line? Just wondering as the station and line have intrested me for a long time and I've never seen this picture before.

It's been a while since we've added many vintage pictures to the tour but this morning it has been updated with mixed bag of a dozen 'new' ones. Enjoy!

Have added some photos of the Scroll Bridge restoration progress this morning, plus some scary shots of the water levels of the River Goyt down at the Iron Bridge earlier this month.

Just slipped a quick 4 additions to the Tour. Two provided by Ray Noble (doesn't he look like his great grandad! ) and two taken by Arthur Procter of the 1000 fluorescent tubes at Chadkirk recently that were placed to highlight the Connect2 Project.

The carnival photo of the children in 'white robes' are the 'felines' from Dr Who.

Thanks Iona - caption updated - Mark 19:13
