I see that they now have erected what looks like a stage on the left hand side as you go towards the lights in the direction of Stockport.  Are the council going to put on entertainment, local band etc. to entertain all the motorists as they queue on there way to work once the strengthening work starts and we are down to single lane working.  If so will they do requests?  If yes can I request Road To Hell for the morning and Stairway to Heaven for the evening!  Anyone else got any other suggestions? I enquired about this work and received the following reply;

We are currently stabilising the culvert wingwalls and strengthening the embankment to the south side because of deterioration in the structural integrity of the structure due to long-term drainage problems and slope movement.  We should be finished by the end of September.

I used to play under there as a child, it's reinforced concerete. What could they be doing that needs attention so badly when the bank is subsiding and the road is falling away under the weight of the traffic? Maybe they had some insite to the bridge collapse in the USA and they started their reviews on the UK bridges too soon?!?!?

Torkington Brook runs under the A626 and they seem to be  working on the tunnel. The scaffold the is the easy way to to move materials down to where thy are working.  I think. Ray

As you start going up hill, just through the traffic lights at Dooley lane, towards Torkington Rd. A bridge scaffold can be seen across the valley on the left hand side.

Whats happening here, anybody know?
