I really don't mind people expressing opposite point of views, but rudeness is not acceptable.

Spelt correctly or otherwise!

Sorry Mark-my mistake, I should have read earlier that you had been in touch with a member of Benevolence Lodge.

What none of them have a computer? I phoned them and told them about it, I didn't rely on them spotting it here or on ebay. They may have decided not to show any interest but they were aware of the sale.

Yes they certainly went for a good price.

I advised a good Friend about the sale after seeing Mark's notice. He has published some articles on Masonic Jewel's, the proceeds of which have gone to Charity.

The lodge featured on the jewels, The Lodge of Benevolence, was founded over 250 years ago at the Unicorn in Stockport, had a period of meeting at the Jolly Sailor in Marple, and still meets, now at the Masonic Guildhall in Stockport.

There is also a  lodge in Marple, The Doric Lodge no 3384 meets at the Shepley Hall on Church Lane and has a page on the Marple Forum, inquiries about membership are welcome.

I'm pretty certain that they were purchased by a collector or dealer as when you look at the winning bidder's recent bids they are all on similar items. So I would say that he/she is a collector rather than someone with a Marple link. Bidder number 2 was me. I decided to have a go but didn't really expect my bid to be high enough and it wasn't. I'm also pretty certain that Marple's Masonic Lodge didn't bid, despite me telling them about it.

Disappointing  :(

A fascinating collection of Masonic Medals from Marple has come up on ebay recently: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370317614148&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Unfortunately I think the price is going to be way out of my reach but I've reported it to members of the Marple Lodge and I hope that they can be returned to Marple where they belong. I shall be watching with interest!
