How about those ridiculous "adverts" hanging on the lampposts in Stockport about the council supporting X number of businesses and helping elderly people etc.  Surely that's the role of a council - and I'm not sure what the point of advertising is, unless there's a local election looming!!!

Or how about this one - "Stockport Partnership Manager"

https://www.yourcounciljobs.co.uk/jobdetails.aspx/2305/Stockport_Partnership_Manager_/?sAuthority_id=7

Ref: HL2305
Employer: Stockport Council
Location: Town Hall, Stockport
Salary: £38,042 - £44,535

"To be part of a dynamic team providing high quality support and advise to Stockport’s decision makers you will need strong interpersonal skills; an ability to communicate effectively; and a proven track record of working independently to shape and drive change, alongside a demonstrable knowledge of public sector policy and performance.

You must have a proven track record of partnership working across organisational boundaries alongside an ability to think strategically and recognise inter-relationships between policies and activities and join these up to ensure true added value and efficiency."

Knowledge of the difference between "advice" and "advise" would be an advantage (my little joke)

Sounds like pure BS to me....

That job looks suspiciously like the person who is going to have to wield the axe.    ;)

As Stockport MBC inevitably will face cuts in it's grant from central government very soon in the light of the deficit and surely must soon realise that those of us who actually pay council tax cannot simply stump up for that shortfall year after year, what would you suggest that Stockport MBC could do to reduce expoenditure and hopefully freeze or reduce council tax?

Here's a starter: stop printing the 3 monthly " Stockport Review" , most of the info is available via freesheets and the Council website, the content is questionable and self serving. Stopping it would save probably a £100K a year and reduce the amount in recycling bins.

Over to you.....
