I've been asked what time the Food and Drink Day starts - basically it's from 10am onwards and if the weather's good it will be busy all day until at least 5 or 6pm. Here's the official details:

A day of appreciation for the food and drink on offer locally.  Shops, pubs and restaurants demonstrate that people can buy better locally. The town has an unusual collection of highly-specialised businesses in the food and drink sector and traders and supppliers are keen to show off their wares and service.

Local outlets will set up stands in the precinct and other businesses will put on 'festival' displays.  Mouth-watering fare will be on sale: grilled meats and sausages, fresh paella out of a pan, a large range of cheeses and deli foods, hot soups, sandwiches, freshly picked local fruit and vegetables, cakes, canapes, and unusual breads.

Local cafes and pubs will be putting on special menus, hoping to show the public how easily they can buy and eat locally.

As well as healthy (and some nice but naughty!) food on sale and delicious aromas filling the air, there will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day including Rainy City Chorus, Mart Rodgers Manchester Jazz, and Marple Band (who are playing at 10:45-11:15, 11:45-12:15, 12:45-13:15).  Plus face painting, free samples, the annual pie competition and the ever-popular marvellous raffle.

Marple Festival Food and Drink Day [25 September]

The climax of the Marple Festival fortnight will be the Food and Drink Day on Saturday 25 September on Market Street and surrounding areas.

Most people know what to expect for this as it will be the third Food and Drink Day but if you were unfortunate enough to miss the last two take a look at the photos in the Virtual Tour:

2008: http://visitmarple.co.uk/photos/thumbnails.php?album=64

2009: http://visitmarple.co.uk/photos/thumbnails.php?album=77

There is a photography competition running throughout the festival and I hope this will mean that we will be able to compile a great new album for 2010. You can only enter two photos in the competition, so save your best for that and send in your "almost made it" shots for the Virtual Tour!
