Details - Temporary traffic signals on Stockport Road/Compstall Road, Romiley for refurbishment of the railway bridge, As part of the works, a series of overnight closures will be required and these have been planned for Saturday nights commencing at 2230hrs with the road being re-opened the following Sunday morning at 0800hrs. These overnight closures will commence on the weekend of 14/15 May and continue until the weekend of 13/14 August. Over the spring bank holiday weekend between 2100hrs on Friday 27 May and 0600hrs on Tuesday 31 May, Stockport Road / Compstall Road will be closed. Diversions for the closures will be signed via Marple / Marple Bridge

But let's be clear about this - the engineering works and resulting disruption are taking place over the three days of the late May Bank Holiday weekend - not for 15 weeks from 5 May!

sure it says fifhteen weeks work on the board ,
By the sounds of things and what I've seen, they must be undertaking major work on the railway bridge over compstall road, hence break in  the rail link between romiley and marple etc  :o

Just copied this from National Rail Enquiries.  It looks like you can get a train from Marple to Manchester but buses will be provided for intermediate stations!

My reading of this is that there will be no trains from Marple - just buses linking you to the nearest open station in either direction.

Errrm - that says that trains won't be calling at at Marple. They'll be running as far as Bredbury, or going via Stockport into New Mills for Edale and onwards to SHeffield

I know its not Marple but it could inconvenience people does anyone know what the work is that's starting at romiley station on the 5 may for 15 weeks
