Seriously though, I can't see why there couldn't be a mixture of uses.

Small supermarket, like say, the M&S in Hazel Grove. A nice, new multi-use community centre and some housing.

How about a site for Gypsies and Travellers.

They may be able to raise a significant amount of money between them. We know they like Marple, evidenced by their occasional residence at Rose Hill station. And they would bring extra business to the local shops and public houses.

Marple could be seen to be helping to seek an end to racism and discrimination against Gypsies and Travellers, whatever their ethnicity, culture or background, whether settled or mobile, and to protect the right to pursue a nomadic way of life.

It's always better to be flexible. The college want to sell the site to raise cash and the obvious contenders to buy are the large supermarkets.

Housing is the obvious choice but this is unlikely to raise enough money in ht ecurrent property market or indeed anytime soon.
