There is a report online for all to see about Marple Hall school. You do need to search for the school via the link below.

just got on to comment myself about this!  Son came home and described it as a prison himself.. also said its very restrictive ( yrs 7 and 8 now restricted to areas around school and not allowed on fields) and oppressive.  Cant see how its to do with sports at all!  Kids already think its to keep them in and to stop truancy!!

Also a comment of concern... the gate they have to use presumably to get onto the field is very narrow only letting one child at a time, at a push ( and wont there be!!) 2, through!

Totally over the top in my opinion.. .and if the children think it looks like a prison and that they are in a prison then its not really going to enthuse a positive attitude to school is it!

I wonder if this is the start of many changes by the new head?

From what I remember, the person spoke of Ofcom or Ofsted or something like that. Try this link = http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/schools

I'm quite sure that there could be grounds for a H&S challenge with regards to the narrow grouds. I wounder how much this new fence would restrict emergancy evacuation?

I've been told that the fence around the Marple Hall School is to do with sports regulations or something in line with such things, personally I think it is a massive shame and looks like a prison.....just wrong.

No different to most schools in Stockport though. The "easy access" to MHS has caused problems in the past, with vandalism etc. Although my sons all used to play tennis and football there on evenings and weekends, and were told by the then PE teacher that he was happy for them to do so.

I think the right of way runs around the edges of the site, Although I agree that the fence looks like a prison, Infact a few friends of mine have re-named marple hall school to "Marple hall correctional facility"
